According to a report by Bain & Co., by 2030, electric 2-wheelers could make up about 40 percent to 45 percent of all EVs sold in India, and electric passenger vehicles could make up about 15 percent to 20 percent. As per a Niti Aayog report, the Indian government is aiming for EV adoption to reach 40 percent for buses, 30 percent for private cars, 70 percent for CVs and 80 percent for 2-wheelers by that timeline. So, while the move to EVs is underway and is poised for a rapid transition in India, widespread adoption is hampered by challenges related to affordability, batteries and the supply chain.
