Three key factors to increase the share of the manufacturing sector in India’s GDP include Digital Innovation, Sustainable Solutions and Supply Chain Optimization.

May 2024 : The manufacturing landscape is undergoing unprecedented change, driven by global competition, evolving business models, and heightened customer demands for speed and customization. Key to success lies in the ability to adapt & innovate. In this context, the Autodesk Design & Manufacturing Summit was organized to build a unique platform for stakeholders to unite, share knowledge and drive innovation through digital transformation. The Summit explored the transformative power of digitalization, innovation and sustainability in the manufacturing business. Discussions delved into leveraging technology to drive efficiency, foster innovation and to ensure environmental stewardship. Moreover, the dialogue emphasized skill development, fostering entrepreneurship and building resilient supply chains.

The Hosts
The Summit was jointly hosted by Preetham Parvatam, Marketing Manager for Autodesk Manufacturing Vertical India long with Niranjan Mudholkar, Editorial Director, Pro MFG Media. Preetham pointed out that with India on its way to establishing itself as global manufacturing powerhouse, the industry is going through unprecedented changes. This event is an endeavor by Autodesk to decode opportunities and exchange insights from industry leaders from the manufacturing ecosystem for capitalizing this growth story in the most profitable way.

Opening Remarks
The event was kickstarted with the opening remarks from Parminder Singh, Country Head, Design & Manufacturing, Autodesk India. Parminder gave an insightful overview of Autodesk’s comprehensive connect with various industry through its cutting-edge solutions. While emphasizing on capitalizing the manufacturing growth in India, he highlighted how India's manufacturing is just 17 percent of the National GDP. Parminder pointed out that the industry needs three key factors to increase its share in the GDP. The first being Digital Innovation, the second Sustainable Solutions and the third Supply Chain Optimization.

Special Address
A major highlight of the Summit was a Special Address delivered by Detlev Reicheneder, Senior Director Industry Strategy & Global Market Development with Autodesk. With his inspiring presentation titled “Capitalize on the Manufacturing Growth in India”, Detlev spoke on going beyond the crowd. He highlighted how Digital Transformation is an enabler for profitable growth under uncertainty. He remarked that better products lead to more sales, which in turn provide greater value to the customers. “The question isn’t what the vision is; it is what the way is,” he said. According to Detlev, the Five Major Steps to deliver value include: 1. Mass Customization, 2. Digital Collaboration, 3. Flexible Manufacturing, 4. CustomerExperience, and 5. Smart Services. His key message through the presentation was - “Grow Your Business with Great Products”.

Customer Presentation
An interesting presentation Himanshu Jadav, CEO and Founder of Jendamark also kept the audience involved. Himanshu spoke about Innovation empowered through Digital Transformation. Stating that the need of the hour is sustained growth, faster response, reduced dependencies, lower CapEx, consistent quality with data analysis and tech readiness for the future. He spoke about the 200-year evolution of the manufacturing industry, now culminating into Industry 5.0. He pointed out how every industrial revolution was associated with reduced efforts and value addition.

Autodesk Presentation 1
An informative presentation by Sanjeev Ghosh, Senior Technical Solutions Expert- Design & Manufacturing, Autodesk India, highlighted the need for “Maximizing Efficiency in Manufacturing and the impact of a Digital Factory”. He underlined the need for an Integrated Digital Model divided into 5 phases: 1. Plan 2. Design 3. Validate 4. Build 5. Operate.

Autodesk Presentation 2
The second Autodesk presentation was delivered by Ramaswamy Sreenivas, Technical Sales Manager at Autodesk's Advanced Manufacturing Solutions Team. He shared his views on “Delivering innovation through advanced manufacturing”. He emphasized on the importance of design changes and the need to automate while also shedding light on the changes experienced at the ground level due to innovative solutions and the impact of these solutions.

Vote of Thanks
Sharon Tiu, Director, Industry Strategy, Autodesk concluded the summit by expressing gratitude and underlining the pivotal role of manufacturing as India’s growth engine. She highlighted the potential of collaboration in harnessing technological opportunities.
