STRUCTROMAX and WELDSTAR broaden the advanced heavy plate options available to Indian engineers, fabricators and manufacturers, while strengthening domestic capability for high-value applications.” - Ranjan Dhar, Director and Vice President - Sales & Marketing - AM/NS India
August 2026 : ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India (AM/NS India) has introduced two high-performance heavy steel plate brands - STRUCTROMAX and WELDSTAR - designed to support India’s expanding infrastructure, heavy engineering, and manufacturing landscapes. Manufactured at the company’s Hazira plant in Gujarat, both product lines leverage thermo-mechanical controlled processing and specialized heat-treatment technology to deliver enhanced durability and structural efficiency.
STRUCTROMAX is tailored for demanding infrastructure projects including bridges, high-rise buildings, railways, offshore platforms, and wind energy installations. It features high load-bearing capability, corrosion resistance, and superior weldability to help structures withstand extreme environmental conditions. Meanwhile, WELDSTAR focuses on ultra-high-strength applications such as cranes, mining machinery, and heavy transport systems. By offering high strength-to-weight ratios, it enables engineers to reduce overall structural weight, increase payload capacity, and lower long-term fuel and maintenance costs.
Both heavy plate offerings carry a 3-Star Rating under the Ministry of Steel’s Green Steel Taxonomy, reinforcing AM/NS India’s commitment to lower carbon emissions across its production cycle.
Ranjan Dhar, Director and Vice President - Sales & Marketing, AM/NS India said: “India’s next phase of infrastructure and manufacturing growth will require steel solutions that deliver greater strength, reliability and efficiency in increasingly complex projects. STRUCTROMAX and WELDSTAR broaden the advanced heavy plate options available to Indian engineers, fabricators and manufacturers, while strengthening domestic capability for high-value applications.”
As a joint venture between ArcelorMittal and Nippon Steel with a 9 million tonne crude steel capacity, AM/NS India continues to expand its downstream portfolio to support critical domestic projects and advance sustainable steelmaking.
