Through BharatBenz's range of BS-VI commercial vehicles, we look forward to helping customers upgrade their fleets while enhancing productivity, fuel efficiency, and operational performance.” - Rajiv Chaturvedi, President & Chief Business Officer - Daimler India Commercial Vehicles
July 2026 : Daimler India Commercial Vehicles (DICV) has officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways (MoRTH) to accelerate the retirement of aging, polluting commercial fleets.
Under this new initiative, DICV's commercial vehicle brand, BharatBenz, will offer a substantial 8 percent discount on the ex-showroom price of eligible trucks and buses purchased through the scheme. Approved by the Union Cabinet and chaired by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the project represents a coordinated green push. It is funded through the National Capital Region Planning Board (NCRPB) under the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA), and jointly implemented by MoRTH and the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (MoPNG).
For fleet operators stuck with older assets, the incentive arrives at a perfect time. The massive modernization project is expected to impact approximately 2.07 lakh commercial vehicles currently registered in Delhi-NCR, which includes around 1.91 lakh trucks and over 16,329 buses. By targeting BS-IV and older vehicles, the program offers owners a viable financial bridge to upgrade to cleaner, modern fleets.
Stepping up to support this ecological and economic shift, DICV’s leadership emphasized the collective responsibility behind the deal. "The Government of India's vehicle replacement scheme is a significant step towards accelerating fleet modernization and reducing vehicular emissions in the Delhi-NCR region. We are pleased to support this scheme and contribute to the transition towards cleaner, safer, and more efficient transportation. Through BharatBenz's range of BS-VI commercial vehicles, we look forward to helping customers upgrade their fleets while enhancing productivity, fuel efficiency, and operational performance," said Rajiv Chaturvedi, President & Chief Business Officer, Daimler India Commercial Vehicles (DICV).
To sweeten the deal, buyers are not just getting manufacturing discounts. Beneficiaries switching to BS-VI compliant vehicles, cleaner fuel variants, or electric vehicles will also be eligible for various state and central government incentives, including interest subvention on vehicle loans, fuel vouchers, registration fee waivers, and motor vehicle tax concessions.
