“This large order strengthens L&T’s presence in the gasification and downstream chemicals EPC space. Indigenous gasification infrastructure will play a pivotal role in India’s energy transition, and this order reinforces our ability to deliver complex, technology-intensive projects at scale.” - Subramanian Sarma, Deputy Managing Director & President - L&T

May 2026 : L&T Energy Hydrocarbon has secured a contract (valued between ₹2,500 to ₹5,000 crore) from Bharat Coal Gasification and Chemicals Ltd (BCGCL). This isn't just about building another factory; it’s about a massive Coal-to-Ammonium-Nitrate project in Odisha that will turn domestic coal into the vital resources needed to fuel the nation’s mining and infrastructure growth.

By transforming high-ash domestic coal into value-added products, the facility - planned to produce 2,000 tonnes per day - will help slash India's dependence on expensive imports. For L&T, the responsibility is total; they are handling everything from the initial license and design to the final handover of a fully operational plant. This project is a contribution to the Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative.

Commenting on the order win, Mr. Subramanian Sarma, Deputy Managing Director & President - L&T, said: “This large order strengthens L&T’s presence in the gasification and downstream chemicals EPC space. Indigenous gasification infrastructure will play a pivotal role in India’s energy transition, and this order reinforces our ability to deliver complex, technology-intensive projects at scale.”

Mr E S Sathyanarayanan, Senior Vice President & Head of L&T Onshore, noted: “Winning the LSTK Package-4 order reflects BCGCL’s trust in our execution capabilities. Our robust engineering and unwavering focus on EHS and quality will ensure reliable and efficient delivery of the Nitric Acid and Ammonium Nitrate facilities.”

Larsen & Toubro continues to prove why it is a USD 30 billion multinational leader. With an eight-decade legacy of quality, L&T Energy Hydrocarbon stands as one of the largest EPC businesses in the country, consistently delivering the infrastructure that keeps India moving forward.
