November 2025 : Global electric motors powerhouse Nidec Corporation has officially inaugurated and launched full-scale production at its world-class Orchard Hub campus in the Kotur-Belur Industrial Area of Hubli-Dharwad, Karnataka. The fully operational 50-acre site, representing an ambitious $55 million investment, is Nidec’s largest and most advanced manufacturing facility in India.

The grand opening on November 14, 2025, was a major event, graced by Mr. Pralhad Joshi, Honourable Cabinet Minister, Government of India, and Mr. M.B. Patil, Cabinet Minister, Government of Karnataka, underscoring the project's national significance.

The massive campus, which began construction in September 2023, houses six plants and an Experience Centre dedicated to future-forward technologies. The facility is set to manufacture next-generation products critical to India's energy transition, including EV motors and chargers, wind turbine generators, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), and high-efficiency drives.

The commitment to a cleaner future is a core pillar, with the campus designed to integrate solar power, microgrids, and water recycling, targeting carbon neutrality by 2028.

Commenting on the milestone, Hiroshi Kobe, Chairman of Nidec Corporation, stated, “The Orchard Hub is a powerful testament to Nidec’s global vision taking shape in India. By combining Japanese precision and innovation with Indian engineering excellence, we are creating a world-class platform to serve customers across the globe.”

The project is poised to be a major economic driver for the region. Michael Briggs, President of Nidec Motion & Energy, added, “With an investment of $55 million, The Orchard Hub is a reflection of our belief in the country’s potential to lead the next wave of industrial transformation.” The site currently employs 350 people, with plans to create an additional 2,000 direct and indirect jobs.
