January 2026 : In a move that significantly reshapes India’s automotive component landscape, Shriram Pistons & Rings Limited (SPRL) has officially closed its acquisition of the Indian subsidiaries of Spanish giant Grupo Antolin. The deal, valued at approximately ₹16,700 million (€159 million), marks a bold leap for SPRL as it evolves from a traditional engine component manufacturer into a diversified, future-ready mobility leader.

Through this transaction, SPRL has acquired 100% ownership of Antolin Lighting India, Grupo Antolin India, and Grupo Antolin Chakan. These entities are renowned for their high-tech interior solutions, including modular headliners, ambient lighting systems, and capacitive touch panels - components that are increasingly vital as vehicles move toward electrification and autonomous design.

The acquisition is a cornerstone of SPRL’s strategy to diversify into "powertrain agnostic" products. While the company remains a leader in pistons and rings, this move into interiors and advanced lighting ensures its portfolio remains resilient regardless of whether the vehicle of the future is powered by ICE, hybrid, or EV technology.
