February 2026 : In a move that signals a significant scale-up for India’s private space sector, Skyroot Aerospace has recently appointed industry heavyweight Praveen Kumar Gahlot as its new Sr. Vice President - Operations and Business Unit Head.
Gahlot, an enterprising leader with over 21 years of rich experience, joins the space-tech pioneer at a pivotal moment. His appointment is expected to bolster Skyroot’s mission of democratizing space access by bringing world-class operational excellence to their manufacturing and assembly value streams.
With a career spanning two decades, Gahlot is renowned for his expertise in Production/Assembly and Operations Excellence. He has been instrumental in driving business growth for both top-line and bottom-line profitability. He has worked on major OEM projects including Boeing Defence, Boeing Commercial, Airbus, Lockheed Martin, and Indian Defence. His technical depth is matched by his strategic vision in digital transformation and Lean manufacturing.
Before joining Skyroot, Gahlot spent nearly 14 years at Tata Advanced Systems Limited (TASL), he headed production operations for marquee programs such as the Boeing 737-MAX Fan Cowl, CH-47 Chinook, and Lockheed Martin’s C-130J.
His career began at Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) in Nasik, where he served as a Production Engineer for the SU-30MKI, one of the world's most advanced fighter jets. Gahlot’s academic foundation was laid at the prestigious Delhi College of Engineering, where he earned his degree in Mechanical Engineering.
