Synopsys Expands in India with New Bengaluru R&D Facility, Celebrating 30 Years of Operations

September 2025 : Synopsys, a global leader in silicon-to-systems engineering solutions, recently celebrated a major milestone by inaugurating a new research and development facility in Bengaluru. This event also marked the company's 30th anniversary of operations in India.
The new R&D center, located at Bagmane Capital, spans more than 455,000 square feet. It is designed to serve as a hub for advanced R&D in Electronic Design Automation (EDA), semiconductor IP, verification, and system design solutions, helping both global and regional customers bring next-generation technologies to market.
Sassine Ghazi, President and CEO of Synopsys, highlighted India’s strategic importance to the company. "India has been a key part of the Synopsys story for 30 years," he said. "From our very first R&D center in Bengaluru to the blooming network of engineers and partners that we have here now, India is an important center of innovation and talent."
Today, approximately one-third of Synopsys's global workforce is based in India, primarily in engineering roles. Over the past three decades, the company has played a significant role in advancing India's technology and semiconductor ecosystem. It collaborates with more than 100 leading global and regional organizations, including semiconductor design centers, AI startups, and manufacturing firms.
The inauguration of the new facility follows Synopsys's recent acquisition of Ansys in July 2025. The integration of Ansys’s simulation capabilities with Synopsys's existing EDA stack is expected to accelerate innovation in a variety of industries, including automotive, aerospace, and healthcare. The new Bengaluru office is poised to play a crucial role in this integration, reinforcing Synopsys's commitment to growing India as a global innovation hub.
