June 2026 : Global sustainability and agricultural solutions giant UPL has strengthened its technology leadership by appointing Karthik Krishna Prabhakaran as its new Lead - Digital Manufacturing. Karthik steps into the role with a clear, battle-tested philosophy: digital transformation isn't about deploying standalone IT projects, but about converting complex shop-floor realities into scalable, user-adopted solutions that directly move business KPIs.

In his new capacity, Karthik will oversee the digital roadmap across UPL’s manufacturing network. He brings a strong reputation for bridging the gap between engineering systems, business strategy, and ground-level plant operations. His leadership is expected to play a vital role in advancing UPL’s smart manufacturing and Industry 4.0 capabilities, ensuring that automated systems and data analytics deliver tangible operational value.

Karthik joins UPL following a highly successful six-year tenure at Aditya Birla Group’s Grasim Industries Limited (Pulp & Fibre business), where he climbed from a technical analyst role to Deputy General Manager of Digital Excellence. Prior to that, he spearheaded supply chain digitalization and analytics-led control tower solutions for Vedanta Limited’s Aluminum Business. He began his career at Cognizant Technology Solutions and White Data Systems.

Karthik holds an Engineering degree in Computer Science from Anna University. He later pivoted toward business leadership, earning a Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) in Business Analytics and Marketing from the Loyola Institute of Business Administration (LIBA), followed by a Post Graduate Certificate in Digital Transformation from the Indian Institute of Management Tiruchirappalli.
