May 2024 : The Smart Manufacturing Summit - Automotive and FMCG was recently concluded in Delhi on 15 May 2024. The Summit brought together industry leaders, innovators, and experts to explore the future of manufacturing in the age of digital revolution. The Summit highlighted the latest innovations and sustainable practices driving these industries forward. The event provided deep insights into the future of manufacturing, focusing on quality, digital transformation and engineering innovation.

Welcome Note by Dilip Sawhney, Managing Director, Rockwell Automation India

The Summit began with an opening note by Niranjan Mudholkar, Editorial Director, ProMFG Media. He welcomed all participants and underscored the importance of innovation and collaboration in addressing the challenges faced by the Automotive and FMCG sectors. This was followed by a welcome note by Dilip Sawhney, Managing Director, Rockwell Automation India. Mr. Sawhney highlighted Rockwell Automation's commitment to advancing manufacturing technologies through smart solutions for the Automotive and FMCG sectors.

Vinod Aggarwal, MD and CEO, VE Commercial Vehicles, delivered a keynote address focused on the automotive sector. Mr. Aggarwal discussed the transformative trends in automotive manufacturing, emphasizing the importance of innovation in maintaining competitiveness and sustainability. Following that, Shirish Yadav, Executive VP of Manufacturing and Technology at ITC Ltd, delivered the keynote address for the FMCG sector. He highlighted the importance of digitalization in today's FMCG manufacturing industry landscape so as to stay competitive.

Fireside Chat between Veena Lakkundi, SVP Strategy and Corporate Development, Rockwell Automation and Nivruti Rai, MD and CEO, Invest India

Nivruti Rai, MD and CEO, Invest India, and Veena Lakkundi, SVP Strategy and Corporate Development, Rockwell Automation engaged in an insightful discussion delved into strategic insights regarding India's investment landscape and corporate development within the manufacturing sector with particular focus on Automotive and FMCG sectors.

The audience was then split into two parallel tracks focused on Automotive and FMCG Sectors.

Automotive Track - Accelerate Operations and Stay Ahead of Competition

Neeraj Bhalla, Head of Digital Projects, Mahindra and Mahindra, kicked off the automotive track with a keynote address on digital transformation in the automotive industry. Bhalla emphasized on how digital technologies can significantly enhance operational efficiency and innovation.

The first panel discussion centered on manufacturing operations and quality in the age of digitalization. Moderated by Niranjan Mudholkar, the panel included esteemed experts such as Dr. Pulak Pandey, IHFC Chair, Professor Dept. of Mechanical Engineering, IIT Delhi, Rohit Mehta, Vice President Operations, Bellsonica Auto Components, Sandeep Aggrawal, COO, Best Koki Automotive and Sanat Vajpai, Mgr- Intelligent Devices- Regional,Rockwell Automation India. The panelists discussed best practices, challenges, and strategies for maintaining quality and ensuring smooth operations in automotive manufacturing using digital technologies.

Following the panel discussion, Ranjal Arora, Enterprise Software Sales Lead for the Automotive Industry, delivered an industry presentation informing the audience on emerging software solutions designed to optimize automotive manufacturing processes.

The second panel discussion brought together a group of automotive industry experts to explore engineering and innovation in the sector, particularly in the context of the digital revolution. Panelists V Ranganathan Iyer, Group CIO, EVT-IT, JBM Group, Amit Dembi, Business Head,Sonepar India, Chandrashekhar Pathak, Business Line Head - Motor Vehicle Industry, Atlas Copco and Parthapratim Bhaumik, Sales Leader End User, Rockwell Automation India discussed the latest engineering innovations and their impact on automotive manufacturing. The panel was once again moderated by Niranjan Mudholkar.

FMCG Track - Integrate Operations, Improve Quality and Provide Product Consistency

Simultaneously, the FMCG track commenced with a keynote address by Abhishek Luthra, Director, Supply Chain Transformation, The Coca-Cola Company. Mr. Luthra shared insights on transforming supply chains to enhance efficiency and sustainability in the FMCG sector.

The first panel discussion focused on manufacturing operations and quality was moderated by Manish Kulkarni, Co-founder and Director, Pro MFG India. The panel included industry leaders such as Shivraj Choudhary, Vice President, Bikaji Foods International, Bhupinder Choudhary, Director, Grupo Bimbo India, Anil Tripathi, CTO, Frick India, Robin Jaggi, Vice President Operations, Haldiram Snacks and Ankur Pancholi, Mgr, Software and Control -Regional, Rockwell Automation India. The discussion emphasized strategies for improving operational efficiency and maintaining quality in FMCG manufacturing through digital solutions.

Pankaj Aswal, Architecture and Software Lead, Rockwell Automation India delivered an industry presentation highlighting advanced software solutions tailored for the FMCG industry.

The second panel discussion was moderated by Dr. Rakesh Kumar Advisor- FMCG (Dairy & Food) and included insights from Atul Govil, Chief Transformation Officer & Head (SAP & IT), India Glycols, Anandrup Basu,Head IT, Perfetti Van Melle and Sriram Paramanand, Director- Partnering, India, Rockwell Automation. The panelists discussed how engineering innovations are driving growth and efficiency in the FMCG industry.

Towards the end of the Summit there were live demonstrations of the latest technologies and innovations from various companies, offering attendees hands-on experiences and practical insights into the cutting-edge developments driving the manufacturing industry forward.
