July 2025 : BMW Group India recently announced a significant leadership transition, with Mr. Hardeep Singh Brar appointed as the new President and Chief Executive Officer, effective September 1, 2025. Mr. Brar will succeed Mr. Vikram Pawah, who is taking on the role of Chief Executive Officer of BMW Group Australia and New Zealand.

Mr. Brar brings over three decades of rich experience in the Indian automotive industry, having held numerous senior management positions. Most recently, he served as Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Kia India. His diverse background includes leading core functions such as sales, marketing, customer experience, network development, and corporate strategy across several prominent brands, including Maruti-Suzuki, Volkswagen Passenger Cars, General Motors, Nissan Motor, and Great Wall Motor Company. Mr. Brar holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology, Punjab, and is an alumnus of Harvard Business School’s Senior Executive Leadership Program.

Mr. Vikram Pawah has been an integral part of the BMW Group since 2017, successfully leading the company’s operations in both India (2017 – 2018 and 2020 – 2025) and Australia (2018 – 2020). During his recent tenure in India, Mr. Pawah was instrumental in expanding BMW Group India’s market share through new opportunities and target groups, and significantly advancing electric mobility, digitalization, retail experience, and customer centricity.

This leadership change underscores BMW Group’s commitment to reinforcing its position in the rapidly evolving Indian automotive market, leveraging Mr. Brar’s extensive local expertise to drive future growth and innovation.
