October 2025 : Chara Technologies, a deep-tech product company dedicated to building sustainable electric motor systems, has successfully closed its Series A funding round, raising ₹52 Crores ($6.2M). The round was led by Arkam Ventures, with participation from Exfinity Venture Partners, Kalaari Capital, and IIMA Ventures.
The capital infusion marks a significant milestone for the five-year-old firm, validating its core mission: powering the global energy transition through indigenous, Rare-Earth-Free technology.
Chara’s flagship product is a line of Synchronous Reluctance motor systems (with matching controllers) designed from first principles. These systems have been proven on the field across continents, offering performance comparable to traditional Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors (PMSMs) but eliminating the supply chain risks, cost, and geopolitical dependence associated with rare-earth critical minerals.
The company emphasizes that its motor systems are not only rare-earth-free but also boast superior efficiency compared to existing technology, built upon proprietary advancements across electromagnetics, mechanical engineering, hardware, and advanced algorithms.
Accelerating to 500,000 Deployments by 2030
The newly secured funding is earmarked for accelerating the next phase of Chara’s growth. The company plans to rapidly expand production capacity, accelerate customer deployments globally, and move toward its long-term goal of deploying 500,000 motor systems by 2030.
In a statement, the company noted that the funding represents "Ignition" for its next chapter, stating, "We have learned to stand, walk, and sprint. Now it is time to fly." Chara Technologies is positioned to be a key player in the global push for sustainable industrial and mobility solutions, built entirely in India.
