“Through the Advanced Manufacturing Lab at Hassangarh, we are bringing real shop-floor learning and modern machinery into classrooms. This initiative, aligned with Skill India mission, equips students with confidence to handle industry-specific processes and nurtures talent for the evolving automotive ecosystem.” - Rahul Bharti, Senior Executive Officer, Corporate Affairs - Maruti Suzuki India Limited

May 2026 : Walking onto a modern automotive factory floor can be a daunting experience for any fresh graduate. To shatter that learning curve and give students a massive head start, Maruti Suzuki India Limited has stepped up by establishing an Advanced Manufacturing Lab (AML) at the Government ITI in Hassangarh, Rohtak. Aligned closely with the central government’s Skill India mission, this hands-on facility is set to train around 200 students in its very first year, turning textbook theories into practical, career-ready skills.

The lab is meticulously designed to replicate a real-world shop floor, giving students a safe yet authentic environment to master critical automotive trades. From assembly lines and precision welding to painting, machining, mechatronics, and rigorous safety protocols, the lab mimics the heartbeat of modern manufacturing. The goal is simple: ensure that when these students graduate, they do so with the confidence and competence demanded by a fast-evolving automobile industry.

Highlighting the project's vision, Mr. Rahul Bharti, Senior Executive Officer, Corporate Affairs, Maruti Suzuki India Limited, said, “Through the Advanced Manufacturing Lab at Hassangarh, we are bringing real shop-floor learning and modern machinery into classrooms. This initiative, aligned with Skill India mission, equips students with confidence to handle industry-specific processes and nurtures talent for the evolving automotive ecosystem. It is part of our commitment to build a skilled, future-ready workforce for India’s manufacturing sector.”

The inaugural event, which also saw the distribution of employment offer letters to students selected for apprenticeships at Maruti Suzuki, was celebrated as a major win for regional development. Mr. Sachin Gupta, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Rohtak, said, "The establishment of the Advanced Manufacturing Lab at ITI Hassangarh marks a defining milestone in Rohtak’s journey towards becoming a centre of excellence in skill development and a significant contribution to the vision of Viksit Bharat. By introducing industry-grade infrastructure, advanced manufacturing technologies, and hands-on technical training, Maruti Suzuki has created an ecosystem that seamlessly aligns academic learning with the dynamic requirements of modern industry. This initiative will not only equip students and trainees with future-ready skills and enhance employability, but will also nurture a culture of innovation, productivity, and technical excellence. The lab will play a pivotal role in developing a highly skilled workforce capable of supporting India’s industrial transformation and strengthening the nation’s competitiveness in the global manufacturing landscape.”

This launch is just one piece of Maruti Suzuki's massive nationwide footprint in education. The company now supports 31 ITIs across India and has established 18 Advanced Manufacturing Labs, alongside four Japan-India Institutes for Manufacturing (JIMs) in Gujarat and Haryana. By providing merit-based scholarships and real-world tools, the automaker is actively molding the human capital that will drive India's industrial future.
