“With Schaeffler as a strategic partner, we are accelerating exactly what drives us: bringing production-ready, open-source-based software platforms to market faster. Qorix Performance combined with Schaeffler’s system integration and compute expertise creates a compelling offering for automotive manufacturers and Tier-1 suppliers that want to actively shape the transition to software-defined architectures.” - Markus Schupfner, CEO - Qorix

October 2026 : Schaeffler and Qorix have joined forces in a partnership to build and market software-based platform solutions for future vehicle architectures and intelligent machines. The collaboration targets the rapidly shifting automotive landscape, aiming to drastically shorten development cycles and simplify integration for next-generation central computing systems.

As the automotive sector transitions from traditional distributed electronic control units to centralized high-performance computing, demand has surged for standardized, secure, and production-ready middleware platforms. By pairing Schaeffler’s extensive system integration, chassis, and cross-domain hardware capabilities with Qorix’s production-ready middleware and functional safety expertise (certified under ISO 26262), the two companies offer a streamlined, end-to-end stack for OEMs and Tier-1 suppliers.

Central to their shared vision is active participation in Eclipse S-CORE, an open-source software framework designed to ensure vehicle software is reusable and scalable across product generations.

“With our platform and integration expertise, Schaeffler is laying the foundation for central software-defined vehicle architectures. Qorix complements this foundation with production-ready middleware and a strong open-source approach, enabling us to bring scalable solutions to market faster and more efficiently,” says Thomas Stierle, CEO E-Mobility at Schaeffler AG.

Echoing this vision, Markus Schupfner, CEO of Qorix, noted, “With Schaeffler as a strategic partner, we are accelerating exactly what drives us: bringing production-ready, open-source-based software platforms to market faster. Qorix Performance combined with Schaeffler’s system integration and compute expertise creates a compelling offering for automotive manufacturers and Tier-1 suppliers that want to actively shape the transition to software-defined architectures.”

Looking beyond passenger cars, Schaeffler and Qorix plan to adapt their scalable software framework to robotics and industrial automation. Backed by Qorix’s strong pedigree - as a joint venture between KPIT Technologies, ZF, and Qualcomm Ventures - and Schaeffler’s global engineering scale, the partners are set to roll out their first integrated solutions in upcoming customer projects.
