“Vikram Solar is making a deliberate choice to lead with performance, consistency, and future-ready innovation. This shift reflects our conviction to set benchmarks for high-efficiency solar manufacturing from India for the world, setting benchmarks that the global markets can trust." - Gyanesh Chaudhary - Chairman & Managing Director, Vikram Solar

January 2026 : Vikram Solar, a titan in India’s renewable energy sector, has recently announced a landmark strategic shift, transitioning its entire product portfolio to the advanced G12R rectangular cell technology. This move signals a definitive end to traditional formats, as the company benchmarks its future on high-efficiency, large-format N-type architectures.

The transition centers on the HYPERSOL G12R and HYPERSOL PRO G12R series. These modules are not just about size; they are engineering marvels delivering a maximum power output of up to 640 Wp and a peak efficiency of 23.69%.

A standout feature is the "Pro" variant’s ability to ensure unidirectional current flow. By eliminating reverse current and minimizing energy waste, Vikram Solar is effectively squeezing every possible drop of energy from the sun. Furthermore, the rectangular design isn't just for show - it enables a 98.5% container utilization rate, drastically slashing logistics costs for global developers.

This technological pivot coincides with Vikram Solar’s massive capacity expansion to 9.5 GW across its facilities in West Bengal and Tamil Nadu. By standardizing its entire 39-country footprint on the G12R platform, the firm is prioritizing manufacturing discipline and long-term reliability.

Mr. Gyanesh Chaudhary, Chairman & Managing Director, Vikram Solar, emphasized the importance of this clarity: "Solar manufacturing is entering a phase where scale alone is not enough, clarity of technology direction and execution excellence will define long-term leadership. By transitioning entirely to the G12R portfolio, Vikram Solar is making a deliberate choice to lead with performance, consistency, and future-ready innovation. This shift reflects our conviction to set benchmarks for high-efficiency solar manufacturing from India for the world, setting benchmarks that the global markets can trust."

While the G12R is a beast in utility-scale projects, Vikram Solar has ensured its versatility. Available in 96 and 108 half-cut formats, the technology is perfectly sized for residential and commercial rooftops where space is at a premium.

As the industry converges toward N-type and bifacial designs, Vikram Solar’s 100% transition positions it as a technology-led leader, ready to meet the rigorous demands of India, the US, Europe, and Australia.
