May 2024 : Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited(BHEL) has achieved a significant milestone in its commitment to promoting sustainable energy solutions and contributing to the 'National Green Hydrogen Mission' and the Aatmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan. The company has entered into a Technology Transfer Agreement with Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) for a 50 kW alkaline electrolyser system designed for hydrogen production.

The indigenous technology, developed by BARC, offers a well-proven solution with high local material content. Through this collaboration, BHEL aims to scale up the technology and commercialize it for applications in various sectors, including refineries, fertilizers, steel, and transportation.

The agreement signing ceremony took place in the presence of Jai Prakash Srivastava, Director (Engineering, Research & Development), BHEL. The agreement was signed by K. Ravishankar, Executive Director, Corporate Technology Management and Corporate R&D, BHEL, and Dr. S. Adhikari, Associate Director, Knowledge Management Group, BARC.

This partnership between BHEL and BARC is expected to drive innovation, localization, and commercialization of alkaline electrolyser technology in India. It will also play a crucial role in promoting the use of green hydrogen as a clean and sustainable energy source across various industries.
