April 2026 : The hum of a factory floor isn't just about machinery; it's about the heartbeat of the people who make it pulse. For many, the "shop floor" is where raw energy meets real-world solutions, a place where a career can turn into a lifelong passion. As part of Women Aces of Manufacturing - a year-long movement by Pro MFG Media - we are telling the stories of the people behind the progress.

In this feature, we are thrilled to spotlight Kavitha Dhansingh, a Business Technology powerhouse who seamlessly bridges the gap between raw shop-floor energy and sophisticated AI transformations. With over two decades of expertise in the automobile domain, Kavitha isn’t just managing enterprise programs; she is redefining the "how" of global production. From the adrenaline of the assembly line to the precision of digital twins, her journey is a masterclass in staying "hands-on" while thinking light-years ahead. Dive into our exclusive interview to discover why the future of manufacturing belongs to those who master the fundamentals and the algorithms alike.

What inspired you to pursue a career in manufacturing?
Joining manufacturing was an accident, but staying was a matter of the heart. I fell in love with the raw energy of the shop floor. It’s a job with an unmatched adrenaline rush where human intellect, machine power, and cutting-edge automations come together and hook you forever.

What is one leadership lesson manufacturing taught you?
Manufacturing taught me one vital truth: If you want to solve a problem, put down the clicker and leave the office. The best solutions are not found in jazzy power points or polished conference rooms but on the shop floor, standing shoulder-to-shoulder with the people who build the product.

Which competencies are most critical to thrive in the evolving digital technologies in manufacturing?
Success in modern manufacturing isn’t about collecting digital tools; The key learning here is that a solution isn’t smart because it’s digital; it’s smart because it’s the right fit. This is the foundational competency every digital leader must own.

A moment in your career that made you most proud?
There cannot be one - I am proud of every learning moment of my 23+ years at Ford. However, I did feel a deep sense of pride recently, walking the corridors of the plant where my career began. It brought back memories of the ‘crushing weight’ of the job and the mentors who pushed me through it. My pride is rooted in having worked with such mentors - people who saw value in me when I was still searching for it.

What is one misconception about women in manufacturing you would like to break?
In my personal rule book, if you know something is a misconception, don’t give it power by working on it. Instead, pour that energy into building a common understanding of what you can do. I believe results always speak louder than assumptions.

What advice would you give young women entering the manufacturing industry today?
What is true today won’t be true tomorrow. My suggestion to anyone joining manufacturing is: Never outgrow the basics. Stay hands-on in your work, master the fundamentals, and then be ready to do it all over again when the world changes.

How do you see the impact of AI in the manufacturing industry?
AI isn’t just a technical upgrade; it’s a catalyst for scale. The impact of AI in manufacturing comes down to three fundamental questions: What more? How is it different? How easy is it? By disrupting the traditional ‘how’ of our daily work, AI is opening the door to a level of innovation and achievement that was previously out of reach.

In one sentence: what does being a ‘Woman Ace of Manufacturing’ mean to you?
In a game of cards, an Ace can be the highest value or the humblest foundation. To me, Ace means having the versatility to play the part perfectly and keep the momentum going for the whole deck. That’s what I aspire to be for the rest of my career in Manufacturing.
