April 2026 : In the high-stakes world of core manufacturing, where strategy is tested by the second, few leaders command the floor with the precision of a tactical mission. We are honored to introduce - Manvi Bali Misra, Plant Head at Gabriel India, whose career trajectory is a masterclass in resilient leadership.

From serving as a Technical Officer in the Indian Air Force to spearheading India’s pioneering hydrogen engine initiatives, Manvi has spent two decades bridging aerospace rigour with automotive performance. Today, she is a standout feature in Pro MFG Media’s ‘Women Aces of Manufacturing’ series - a year-long initiative celebrating the visionaries shaping the industrial ecosystem. In this candid spotlight, Manvi shares why manufacturing is the "ultimate execution arena," the myth of the leadership mold, and why technical authority remains the only true currency on the shop floor.

What inspired you to pursue a career in manufacturing?
I was drawn to manufacturing because it is the ultimate execution arena - where strategy is tested, not discussed. My Air Force background shaped my bias for action, and manufacturing gave me the scale to build, lead, and deliver outcomes that matter.

What is one leadership lesson manufacturing taught you?
Indecision is the biggest risk on the shop floor. Leadership here demands speed, clarity, and ownership. You don’t get the luxury of perfect information - you act, course-correct, and stay accountable for outcomes.

What keeps you committed to the manufacturing sector despite challenges?
Manufacturing is unforgiving - and that’s precisely its appeal. It rewards leaders who can convert complexity into performance. The ability to drive large-scale impact across people, process, and product keeps me fully invested.

Which competencies are most critical for women to thrive in plant operations?
Technical authority, decisiveness, and the ability to hold ground under pressure. You cannot outsource credibility in a plant environment. Consistency, not intent, is what earns respect and establishes leadership presence.

A moment in your career that made you most proud?
Leading the transformation and stabilisation of a hydrogen engine plant as a brownfield setup - building systems, teams, and discipline simultaneously while delivering performance - was a defining leadership milestone.

What is one misconception about women in manufacturing you would like to break?
That women need to adapt to existing leadership molds to succeed. High-performance environments don’t need conformity - they need capability. Results reset perceptions far more effectively than narratives ever will.

What advice would you give young women entering the manufacturing industry today?
Don’t wait to be included - step in and own responsibility early. Build depth, take tough calls, and be visible where decisions are made. Manufacturing respects competence and courage, not hesitation.

How do you see the impact of AI in the manufacturing industry?
AI will become a decisive competitive lever - compressing decision cycles and elevating operational precision. However, plants that win will be those where leadership integrates AI with strong human judgment, not substitutes it.

In one sentence: what does being a ‘Woman Ace of Manufacturing’ mean to you?
It means setting uncompromising standards, delivering consistently under pressure, and shaping the next generation of leaders - without diluting expectations or performance.
