With this successful gigawatt-scale deployment, Ovation software has proven to be the right platform for any kind of power generation - from traditional thermal plants to large-scale renewable storage.” - Anil Bhatia, Vice President and Managing Director, India - Emerson
July 2026 : Emerson recently announced that its Ovation™ Green SCADA software is orchestrating operations for Adani Green Energy Limited’s (AGEL) massive 3.55 gigawatt-hour (GWh) battery energy storage system (BESS) at Khavda, Gujarat. The facility stands as the world’s largest single-location battery storage deployment outside China and represents one of the fastest utility-scale energy storage projects ever executed globally, taking just 10 months from on-site construction to delivery.
As India accelerates toward a cleaner grid, integrating variable solar and wind power requires precise, split-second control. Emerson’s Ovation platform acts as the central nervous system for the massive site, uniting millions of data points across power conversion systems, battery management platforms, high-voltage switchboards, and remote terminal units. The scalable software provides real-time monitoring and advanced control to optimize output, streamline asset utilization, and ensure round-the-clock grid resilience.
Highlighting the significance of the partnership, Anil Bhatia, Vice President and Managing Director, India - Emerson, said, “Emerson is proud to be part of India’s clean energy journey with Adani Green Energy. Our Ovation Automation Platform has long been trusted for mission-critical control in India’s power sector. With this successful gigawatt-scale deployment, Ovation software has proven to be the right platform for any kind of power generation - from traditional thermal plants to large-scale renewable storage.”
AGEL, India’s largest renewable energy producer with over 20 GW of operational capacity, plans to scale its battery storage portfolio to 50 GWh over the next five years. With Emerson’s Ovation 4.0 software release and OCR3000 controllers running the majority of the Khavda facility’s capacity, the project sets a global operational standard for rapid, gigawatt-scale clean energy storage.
