July 2025 : The International Centre for Automotive Technology (ICAT), India, and the Korea Automotive Technology Institute (KATECH), Republic of Korea, recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen Indo-Korea collaboration in the development of future automobile technology and India CMVR (Central Motor Vehicle Rules) certification.

The MoU was signed by Shri Saurabh Dalela, Director-ICAT, India, and Shri Jong-sik Youn, Vice President, Testing-Certification R&D Department, KATECH, Republic of Korea, in the presence of senior officials from both organizations.

On this occasion, Shri Dalela stated, “Future of automotive technologies are intensifying and are driven by shifts toward electrification and eco-friendliness. This MoU will help to strengthen that through the collaborative effort of ICAT & KATECH.”

Shri Jong-sik Youn from KATECH added, “The Korea Automotive Technology Institute (KATECH) is pleased to reaffirm its commitment to strengthening cooperation between Korea and India in the field of automotive testing and certification. Through the MoU with India’s International Centre for Automotive Technology (ICAT), KATECH aims to promote high standards of safety, quality, and technical excellence.”

KATECH is a Korean non-profit research institute dedicated to R&D of vehicle technologies through industry partnerships. ICAT is a leading world-class automotive testing, certification, homologation, R&D, and Design & Engineering service provider in India, operating as an autonomous body under the Ministry of Heavy Industries (MHI), Government of India.

This partnership is expected to significantly contribute to the advancement of automotive safety, quality, and technical excellence in both nations, particularly in the rapidly evolving landscape of electrified and eco-friendly vehicles.
