April 2026 : Larsen & Toubro (L&T) officially stepped into the B2B industrial electronics arena. On April 24, 2026, the engineering giant recently announced the birth of its newest vertical: L&T Electronic Products & Systems (LTEPS). While the brain trust will be headquartered in Bengaluru, the heavy lifting has already begun at its Coimbatore campus in Tamil Nadu, where two sophisticated manufacturing lines are now live and serving clients across the globe.
This isn't just about adding another line to a balance sheet; it’s about a storied Indian multinational evolving for a digital age. By moving beyond its traditional strengths into power electronics, industrial robotics, and mobility, L&T is positioning itself at the heart of the next industrial revolution. The strategy is a clever mix of home-grown R&D and savvy global partnerships, all aimed at creating a world-class ecosystem right here in India.
L&T Chairman & Managing Director, S N Subrahmanyan captured the weight of the moment: "The foray into industrial electronics is an important step towards our Lakshya 2031 aspiration of deepening technology leadership and enhancing India's self-reliance in critical manufacturing. With LTEPS, we are bolstering the nation's electronics manufacturing ecosystem while expanding our presence across high-growth, innovation-driven domains".
Looking down the road, the company has its sights set on a massive 40-acre expansion in Coimbatore. This future hub is designed to handle everything from initial design and engineering support to final testing and validation. It’s a long-term play for a company that has already spent eight decades leading the market. As L&T scales this new venture, it isn't just manufacturing products; it’s helping build the infrastructure for a more autonomous and connected India.
