L&T wins power transmission, distribution orders worth up to Rs 5,000 Crore

Larsen & Toubro (L&T) - power transmission and distribution business has bagged large domestic and overseas contracts across its spectrum of offerings.

Larsen & Toubro has won orders from the power transmission and distribution sector worth in the range of Rs 2,500 crore- Rs 5,000 crore, the engineering major said on Monday.

These orders include two engineering, procurement and construction orders from two solar photovoltaic units of 200 megawatts (mw) each in Gujarat. L&T will be responsible for designing, engineering, supply, construction, testing, commissioning and operations and maintenance of the grid connected solar power units. The company won another project for evacuation of power from solar energy zones in Rajasthan to build a 765kV double circuit transmission line.

It won the turnkey project to supply and install high voltage distribution systems in certain districts in West Bengal, which is a part of the grid modernization programme in semi-urban and rural areas being implemented by the state with multilateral assistance. It won another order to construct 220kV and 132kV transmission lines from the state’s transmission utility.

In Tamil Nadu, L&T bagged an order to build a 400 kV substation. This project is aimed to meet the future load growth of the Coimbatore region and to strengthen the evacuation system of an upcoming pumped storage power plant.

In international orders, L&T won an order to install line connected current limiting reactors for Qatar, a project that will help improve grid stability and enable use of existing switchgear without major replacements.
