March 2026 : In a move that underscores India’s soaring importance in the global semiconductor landscape, Silicon Labs officially inaugurated a massive expansion of its Hyderabad facility. The expansion increases the company’s local footprint by 50%, adding state-of-the-art labs and operational space dedicated to high-performance wireless innovation.
The ceremony was attended by Laura E. Williams, U.S. Consul General in Hyderabad, highlighting the strengthening "innovation bridge" between the United States and India. The event featured traditional elements, including a ribbon-cutting and a ceremonial lamp lighting by Silicon Labs’ top brass, symbolizing a bright future for the Austin-headquartered firm in the region.
Since establishing its Hyderabad presence in 2020, Silicon Labs has more than tripled its India-based workforce. This latest expansion isn't just about desk space; it is a strategic move to enhance advanced development across software, hardware, and secure wireless connectivity.
Matt Johnson, President and CEO of Silicon Labs, emphasized the strategic weight of the region: "Hyderabad has become a critical hub in our global engineering and operations footprint. This expansion is a long-term investment in talent, innovation, and global collaboration. It strengthens our ability to deliver secure, power-efficient wireless solutions to customers worldwide while deepening the collaboration of our teams across the United States, Europe, and Asia."
The new facility features advanced labs for wireless design, validation, and system integration. These upgrades are designed to support the growing demand for intelligent wireless connectivity in smart homes, industrial IoT, and smart cities.
Manish Kothari, Senior Vice President of Software Development, noted: "Scaling our Hyderabad site is about building more capacity for invention and execution. With new labs and collaboration space, this facility strengthens Hyderabad's role as a core R&D center for Silicon Labs, including expanded work across hardware and wireless development."
U.S. Consul General Laura E. Williams added that the investment reflects the deep technological ties between the two nations, stating: "The continued growth of U.S. technology investment in India reflects the deep collaboration between our two countries."
As Silicon Labs continues to scale, the Hyderabad site is poised to remain at the heart of its global product development and engineering excellence.
