Oct 2026 : Alkem Laboratories Ltd. has recently appointed Sandip Darji as its new Vice President & Head - API Operations. In his new role based out of Mandva, Darji will oversee Alkem’s active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) manufacturing strategy, focusing on driving operational excellence, process innovation, and capacity expansion across company sites.

With a career spanning a quarter-century, Darji brings a deep reservoir of technical and managerial expertise in chemical engineering, continuous manufacturing (flow chemistry), technology transfer, and regulatory compliance within highly regulated global markets.

Darji joins Alkem following a five-year stint as Senior General Manager and Site Head at Zydus Group. Prior to that, he led flow chemistry initiatives at Ipca Laboratories and at Sun Pharma. His extensive career in the pharma ecosystem also includes technical and operational roles at Cipla, GlaxoSmithKline, Ranbaxy, Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories, Cadila Pharmaceuticals, and Alembic, having kicked off his professional journey at J.K. Cement Limited.

On the academic front, Darji holds a Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) in Chemical Engineering from L. D. College of Engineering, Gujarat University.
