January 2026 : In a landmark move for India’s industrial landscape, Avery Dennison Corporation and the Indian Institute of Packaging (IIP) have officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to launch a first-of-its-kind Management Development Programme (MDP). This strategic partnership aims to bridge the gap between academic theory and real-world industrial application, specifically targeting mid-level professionals.

The collaboration was formalized at the IIP Mumbai campus by Mr. R. K. Mishra (Director IIP & Additional DGFT) and Mr. Saurabh Agarwal (VP & GM, Avery Dennison South Asia). The intensive three-day programme is designed for professionals across diverse sectors, including Pharmaceuticals, Food & Beverages, and Automobiles, offering a curriculum that addresses the impact of AI, sustainability, and evolving consumer behavior.

The programme offers a unique hybrid learning structure, combining classroom sessions at IIP Mumbai with hands-on technical exposure at Avery Dennison’s Pune facility. Participants will gain direct access to senior industry leaders and emerging technologies, preparing them for the complexities of a modern global market.

“This MOU marks a significant milestone for the packaging industry in India, as this is the first time an industry leader is joining hands with a revered academic institution to augment the industry’s packaging talent,” said Saurabh Agarwal. “This aligns with our ongoing efforts to contribute meaningfully to the Indian ecosystem.”

Mr. R. K. Mishra added, “The MOU is aimed at bringing capacity-building to a new level for the packaging industry leadership, with a focus on leveraging emerging opportunities as well as fulfilling the societal obligations of sustainable development.”
