May 2026 : It isn’t every day that a 120-year-old company decides to completely rewrite its future, but Belden Inc. just did exactly that. Belden recently announced it is acquiring RUCKUS Networks from Vistance Networks for approximately $1.85 billion. The deal marks a pivotal moment for Belden, effectively transforming it from a specialty hardware supplier into a "full-stack" networking powerhouse.
As the world is getting more connected, and the walls between Information Technology (IT) and Operational Technology (OT) are crumbling. By bringing RUCKUS into the fold, Belden gains access to world-class Wi-Fi and enterprise switching technology - tools it previously lacked but its customers in hospitality, healthcare, and education have been clamoring for.
"The addition of RUCKUS brings a leading provider of purpose-driven enterprise networks to Belden and accelerates our transformation into a full-stack networking solutions provider," said Ashish Chand, President and CEO of Belden. He noted that the synergy allows them to bring high-performance wireless to industrial customers who are "increasingly looking to converge their IT and OT environments."
The news comes on the heels of a stellar first quarter for Belden, which saw revenues hit $696 million. Financially, the deal is a powerhouse; RUCKUS boasts gross margins above 60% and is expected to be immediately accretive to Belden’s earnings. While the company will temporarily pause share repurchases to focus on paying down debt, the "clear path to rapid de-levering" suggests management is confident in the cash-generating engine they’ve built.
Beyond the balance sheets, there is a human element to this massive corporate shift. Chand personally welcomed the 1,700 RUCKUS employees, calling them "central to what makes this business special." As the deal looks to close in the second half of 2026, the industry is watching closely to see how this heritage brand navigates the high-speed lane of AI-driven cloud networking.
