December 2024 : India’s transition to sustainable transportation is reshaping the mobility landscape, with electric three-wheelers emerging as a game-changer. BAXY Mobility is at the forefront of this revolution. From leveraging advanced technology to building a robust EV ecosystem, BAXY is paving the way for widespread electric mobility adoption across urban and rural India. In this exclusive interaction with Zinnia Banerjee, Kumar Ramamurthi, CEO, BAXY Mobility, shares the company’s vision, priorities, and role in transforming the three-wheeler industry for a sustainable future.

BAXY Mobility recently launched a new range of electric three-wheelers to support India’s transition to more sustainable transportation. In this context, how does BAXY Mobility balance environmental sustainability with affordability to make electric mobility accessible across both urban and rural India?

Mr. Ramamurthi: At BAXY Mobility, we’re excited to be part of India’s transition to sustainable transportation. Our electric three-wheelers are designed to work seamlessly in both urban and rural settings, catering to the diverse needs of our communities. We focus on making these vehicles affordable without compromising on performance or reliability. By combining cost-efficient technologies with innovative designs, we aim to make electric mobility a practical and environmentally friendly choice for everyone.

The electric three-wheeler market in India is witnessing intense competition. What differentiates BAXY Mobility’s offerings from those of other players in terms of a) technology b) performance and c) customer value?

Mr. Ramamurthi: What sets BAXY Mobility apart in the crowded electric three-wheeler market is our focus on delivering real value to our customers. Our advanced technology ensures efficient power management and longer battery life, which translates to fewer charging stops and more peace of mind. When it comes to performance, our vehicles are built to be reliable, durable, and adaptable to all kinds of terrains and usage needs. And on top of that, affordability and strong after-sales support are at the heart of what we offer. Our goal is to provide a dependable, high-value solution that works for a wide range of users.

Given the importance of ecosystem support for EV adoption, such as charging infrastructure and after-sales service, what initiatives is BAXY Mobility pursuing to build a robust ecosystem around your electric three-wheelers?

Mr. Ramamurthi: We’re taking several steps to ensure our customers have the support they need for a seamless EV experience.

For charging, we’re working with charging solution providers to set up strategically placed stations, particularly near our extensive network of service centers. On the after-sales front, we’re building a dedicated network of EV service centers with trained technicians and advanced tools to handle electric vehicles.

When it comes to batteries, we’re partnering with manufacturers to provide reliable warranties, health monitoring solutions, and even a battery recycling program to promote sustainability. To make EVs more affordable, we’re collaborating with financial institutions to offer flexible financing options and EV-specific loans.

For fleet operators, we’re going a step further by designing tailored solutions like telematics integration and predictive maintenance to minimize downtime and boost productivity.

BAXY Mobility has a state-of-the-art R&D center in Gurugram and an advanced manufacturing facility in Roorkee. How critical these two are for driving technological innovation and catering to stringent quality standards while meeting evolving demand of consumers for EV?

Mr. Ramamurthi: Our R&D center in Gurugram and manufacturing facility in Roorkee are at the heart of what we do at BAXY Mobility. The R&D center is where innovation happens—it’s where we develop cutting-edge technologies that meet consumer needs and stay ahead of market trends.

At the same time, our Roorkee facility ensures that every vehicle we produce meets the highest quality standards. With precision manufacturing processes in place, we’re able to deliver EVs that are not only reliable but also high-performing, keeping pace with the evolving demands of our customers.

What are BAXY Mobility’s key priorities and growth areas for the next five years?

Mr. Ramamurthi: Right now, our top priority is to firmly establish these product lines in the market and build a strong, loyal customer base. Our philosophy is simple—customers are at the center of everything we do. With that in mind, we’re focused on delivering high-quality products that not only meet but exceed expectations.

Looking ahead, our long-term vision is to become a leading name in the three-wheeler industry, known for innovative, customer-friendly products and exceptional service.

How do you see the three-wheeler industry evolving in the next decade, and what role will BAXY Mobility play in this transformation?

Mr. Ramamurthi: The three-wheeler industry is on the brink of significant change over the next decade. With the rapid growth of e-commerce and the increasing importance of last-mile delivery, the demand for efficient cargo solutions is set to rise. At the same time, there’s a strong shift happening toward electrification, smart technologies, and sustainable transportation.
