September 2026 : Garware Hi-Tech Films Limited (GHFL) has joined hands with Lubrizol Advanced Materials, signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to develop and manufacture next-generation Thermoplastic Polyurethane (TPU) products right here in India.

This partnership pairs Lubrizol’s world-class TPU formulation technology with GHFL’s precision engineering and processing capabilities. Together, the duo aims to launch a versatile technology platform designed to roll out high-value TPU-based solutions across diverse sectors, including automotive, architecture, industrial applications, and consumer electronics.

Beyond commercial expansion, the venture serves as a major strategic leap for GHFL’s flagship Paint Protection Film (PPF) business. By establishing India’s first dedicated TPU extrusion platform tailored specifically for premium PPF manufacturing, GHFL achieves backward integration for a core raw material. Bringing TPU processing in-house lowers reliance on overseas imports, enhances supply-chain resilience, boosts manufacturing efficiency, and accelerates time-to-market for new innovations.

The move comes at an ideal time. Demand for premium automotive protective films is surging nationwide, fueled by a booming luxury vehicle market, greater car care awareness among buyers, and expanding detailing networks. Aligned seamlessly with the Government of India's "Make in India" mission, this collaboration strengthens local manufacturing ecosystems by shifting advanced chemical science and high-tech film processing onto domestic soil.
