September 2023 : The much-awaited Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence User Conference India 2023, a two-day customer-focused event held at ITC Grand Chola, Chennai, showcased India’s Engineering Excellence and Innovation.

After a two-year hiatus, Hexagon’s annual conference for the Indian manufacturing industry returned as an in-person gathering, hosting over 1,000 attendees on Day 1 alone. The conference brought together industry leaders, experts, and visionaries from the engineering and manufacturing community. The theme for this year was ‘Engineering Quality: From Concept to Customer’. The conference focused on the importance of Quality in driving success and innovation. Hexagon understands that robust quality systems and processes optimize business practices, facilitate continuous improvement, and enable smarter manufacturing. By prioritising Quality, Hexagon aims to exceed customer expectations to help deliver products and solutions that demonstrate unrivalled reliability and performance. Keynote speakers at the Hexagon Manufacturing Industry User Conference India 2023 included Mahesh Kailasam, SVP & GM, Design & Engineering; Alexander Freund, Director, Production Software; Som Chakraborti, Global Director of Metrology & QA Software; Boon Choon Lim, President, Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence, division, Korea, ASEAN, Pacific and India; and Stephen Graham, EVP and GM, Nexus from Hexagon’s Manufacturing Intelligence division. Dr. K. Subramanian, Senior Vice President, Ashok Leyland; Murali Balasubramanian, Automotive Research & Advanced Engineering, India head, Stellantis; Mahesh V P, Dean IIT, Chennai; Dr. Suryanarayana Prasad A N, Head – Simulation and Analytics, Ashok Leyland; Sridhar Lingan, Sr. Principal Engineer - CAE (Crash & Occupant), CFD & Methods Development, Mahindra also made keynote addresses during the event.

The response, energy, and interactions remained exceptional as Day 1 (September 5, 2023) presented the attendees with an immersive experience from Hexagon product users centred around quality, structures, materials, and processes. The day, highlighted by the welcome note from Sridhar Dharmarajan, and Boon Choon Lim, president - KAI, Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence, explored subjects including auto-related structures and materials, technical papers, and trend analysis. Attendees also engaged in trend analysis discussions, highlighting the evolving landscape. The day’s focus on industry expertise and collaborative spirit laid a strong foundation for further exploration, which was demonstrated in the plethora of technical papers on advanced technologies presented in multiple tracks focused on specialized domains.

Day 2 (September 6, 2023) focused on additive manufacturing discussions, featuring keynote presentations, industry insights, and pioneering solutions in structures, materials, and processes. Notable sessions included an industry keynote by Murali Balasubramanian of Stellantis, a deep dive into agile simulation process data management, and an exploration of the Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) in commercial vehicles. Other sessions on the agenda for the day included optimization, simulation, and predictive analysis, culminating in awards and a closing note.

Attendees also got the opportunity to grab a glimpse of Nexus, Hexagon’s cutting-edge digital reality platform for manufacturers in India.
