October 2025 : The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has announced ManufexLearn 2025: National Conference on Manufacturing Excellence Learning in Undergraduate Programs, scheduled for November 15-16, 2025. This major national event aims to address the urgent need for transforming manufacturing education across India to prepare the next generation of engineers for the rapidly evolving landscape of intelligent manufacturing.

Bridging the Gap in the Digital Era

In an era increasingly defined by Artificial Intelligence (AI), automation, IoT, and cyber-physical systems, ManufexLearn 2025 will serve as a vital platform to discuss how traditional manufacturing education must evolve. The conference seeks to highlight the importance of integrating these advanced technologies with fundamental hands-on experience, equipping students with the critical skills needed for future product development and industrial processes.

The initiative also focuses on systemic educational challenges, including effective strategies for managing large student cohorts and leveraging Project-Based Learning (PBL) to enhance practical knowledge application and student engagement.

Prof. Sunil Jha, Professor & Head of the Central Workshop at IIT Delhi, underscored the importance of the conference, stating: “Are our engineering students truly prepared for the advanced manufacturing world? Many are still learning on outdated equipment, leading to a disconnect and declining interest. How can we bridge this gap and foster a passion for manufacturing, essential for our nation's development?”

Key Themes for Transformation
The two-day conference will feature in-depth discussions, panels, and presentations centered around four critical themes:
● Preparing for the AI Era: Strategies for integrating digitalization, automation, and AI into manufacturing curriculum.
● Learning Factories: Modernizing academic infrastructure to create advanced, real-world "Learning Factories."
● Bridging the Academia-Industry Gap: A panel discussion fostering closer collaboration between academic leaders and industry executives to address specific skill gaps.
● Project-Based Learning Showcase: Highlighting successful PBL implementations, alongside a Student Innovation Show to present new projects and ideas.

ManufexLearn 2025 is a critical event for Directors, Heads of Central Manufacturing Facilities, and Faculty members from Engineering & Technology Institutes nationwide, as well as industry leaders and policymakers committed to realizing India's Viksit Bharat 2047 vision.

The event will be held at the Lecture Hall Complex (LHC) at IIT Delhi on November 15-16, 2025. Details and registration are available at https://manufexlearn.in - Contact: Prof. Sunil Jha, Head, Central Manufacturing Facility, Indian Institute of Technology Delhi, Email info_cmf@admin.iitd.ac.in
