Oct 2026 : Suryadev Alloys and Power Private Limited (SAPPL) has taken another decisive step toward becoming a fully integrated steel producer by selecting Danieli NewFer GmbH and Danieli Corus India to supply a new 2.4 Mtpa greenfield pellet plant at its manufacturing site in Gummidipoondi, Tamil Nadu.

This investment marks a key milestone in SAPPL’s long-term growth roadmap. The company currently operates 600 tonnes per day of ironmaking capacity, a 40 MW captive power plant, and a 0.6 Mtpa steel plant. By adding dedicated, on-site pelletizing capacity, SAPPL aims to strengthen its upstream integration and secure a steady supply of high-quality feedstock for its ironmaking operations.

Built on Danieli NewFer’s proven travelling grate technology, the modern facility will feature an indurating machine with a 408 m² reaction area. Energy efficiency remains a core focus of the design: the plant will integrate an advanced Heat Recovery System that guarantees at least 15% lower specific burner thermal energy consumption, along with the flexibility to utilize lower calorific gases to cut operational costs.

Under the contract structure, Danieli Corus India Private Limited will manage indigenous equipment supplies, while Danieli NewFer GmbH, Germany, will deliver critical technological components and foreign-sourced machinery. The engineering partners will also provide technical advisory services covering detailed engineering, fabrication, erection, and commissioning.

Scheduled for completion within 16 months, the entire pellet output will feed directly into SAPPL’s existing ironmaking units.
