August 2023 : Toyota Technical Training Institute (TTTI), has recently celebrated the passing out of its 14th batch of students in a grand convocation ceremony. The event marked successful completion of the comprehensive skill training on Global Manufacturing Practices for 62 TTTI Regular and 41 Toyota Kaushalya course students from rural Karnataka. The academic honours were handed over to the outgoing batch of students for the Regular TTTI Three-year course and the first batch students from Toyota Kaushalya Two-year program, by esteemed Chief Guest - Jagadguru Sri Sri Sri Dr. Nirmalanandanatha Mahaswamiji, in the presence of TKM Management and representatives from Toyota Group Companies, Suppliers, CII, ACMA, and Toyota Indonesia Academy who specially came to participate and learn as a part of the knowledge sharing culture between Toyota affiliates.

Since its inception in 2007, TTTI through its holistic and comprehensive curriculum, is focusing not only on imparting knowledge of advanced technologies but also on fostering overall development by transforming rural youth into skilled manpower as per industry requirements. A key factor contributing to TTTI’s success is the consistently high employment rate of its students, who have secured excellent job opportunities not only within Karnataka and India, but also overseas. The recently started ‘Toyota Kaushalya’ program has been well received by students and aims to provide a unique opportunity for youth to acquire skills relevant to the manufacturing industry and enhance their employment potential through the Learn and Earn’ approach, combining both theoretical learning with On-the-Job Training (OJT). Further to promote skilling, TTTI has been selected as one of the institutes under the Japan India Institute for Manufacturing [JIM] skill transfer promotion program, aimed at inculcating Japanese-style manufacturing skills and practices, thereby contributing to ‘Skill India’ Mission of the Government of India.

TTTI also promotes inclusivity by offering free training to economically challenged students and has witnessed its students achieving remarkable feats at prestigious competitions like the India Skills and World Skills contest, bringing immense pride to the nation. One of the hallmarks of TTTI’s education is its residential training program which provides holistic development of the students in terms of knowledge, skill, physical and mental abilities, that has made TTTI a coveted learning institute. Considering the success of the TTTI programs and to cater to the increasing demand, TKM has decided to expand the institute’s intake from 600 to 1200 students by the end of 2023.

Chief Guest Jagadguru Sri Sri Sri Dr. Nirmalanandanatha Mahaswamiji, said, “I am delighted to witness the graduation of these bright and talented students from Toyota Technical Training Institute. The commitment shown by TTTI in providing skill training to aspiring students from economically challenged backgrounds is truly commendable. Such initiatives play a vital role in upliftment of the community resulting in collective progress and lasting positive impact. It is heartening to see Toyota Kirloskar Motor’s philosophy focusing on the progress of rural and weaker sections of society through holistic development of students including their skill, knowledge, body, and mind thereby transforming their lives. I am confident that TTTI will continue to facilitate the talented rural youths of our country to acquire world-class skills with deep rooted sense of responsibility and self-discipline, thereby enabling them to be a true human being and contribute to overall progress of the society and the nation they live in.”

Speaking at the occasion, G. Shankara, Senior Vice President & Chief Human Resource Officer, TKM & TKAP, expressing his thoughts, said “We, as a corporate, are committed towards contributing and achieving the goal of Skill India. TTTI is one of the many initiatives that illustrates Toyota’s endeavour to provide industry ready skilled workforce to the automotive sector. We are proud to have trained over 950 students since inception, and it fills our hearts with joy to witness their success stories as they embark on a new journey of having fulfilling careers in the auto industry. Further, the planned increase in student intake, expansion of its facilities and soon to be opened higher capacity dormitory, is not only a testament of encouragement from the Government of Karnataka and Government of India, but also a reaffirmation of Toyota Kirloskar Motor’s commitment to support students from economically challenged sections of society in transforming them into world-class technicians. Additionally, we are striving to enhance gender diversity, by enrolling female students for greater inclusion in the workforce as it will further contribute significantly to the development of our societies and growth of our nation.”
