Boeing Appoints Sarma Chillara as Executive Director HR - India and South Asia

November 2025 : Boeing has recently announced the appointment of Sarma Chillara as the new Executive Director of Human Resources for India and South Asia. This key leadership change comes as Boeing continues to expand its operations and strategic initiatives across the region.
In his new capacity, Chillara will spearhead the company's human resources function, focusing on strengthening workforce capacity, driving organizational capability, and cultivating an inclusive, high-performing culture. He takes over from Ajay Sharma, who is transitioning to a new role as Executive Director, HR, for Boeing Europe, Israel & Ukraine, and HR Business Partner for Global Engineering.
Commenting on the appointment, Salil Gupte, president, Boeing India and South Asia, stated, “Sarma’s diverse industry experience and strategic approach to people leadership will be instrumental as we continue to grow our operations in the region. His leadership and expertise will help shape a future-ready workforce and talent strategy that supports the evolving needs of India’s aerospace and defence sector.”
Chillara will also be crucial in championing Boeing’s core values and advancing its safety culture across the organization, promoting accountability, transparency, and ownership among employees to accelerate performance and operational excellence.
Sarma Chillara brings nearly two decades of strategic HR experience from the automotive, banking, consulting, and retail sectors. He joins Boeing from Skoda Auto Volkswagen India, where he spent over 13 years and served as a Member of the Board for Human Resources. He holds an MBA in Human Resources from Welingkar Institute of Management and has completed advanced executive programs at The Wharton School and the University of Michigan.
Boeing’s commitment to India is significant, with an annual sourcing value of over $1.25 billion and a direct employment base of close to 7,000 people. Chillara's expertise is set to bolster this commitment by building a strong talent pipeline aligned with the company’s ambitious growth trajectory in the Indian market.
