January 2026 : Crompton Greaves has recently announced a significant addition to its senior management team with the appointment of Dhananjay Bapat as Vice President - Railway Business, effective January 2, 2026. This strategic move follows the resignation of Mr. Chidambaram Balakrishnan, who stepped down from the role on January 1 for personal reasons.
The appointment marks a notable "full circle" moment for Bapat, who actually began his professional journey as a Production Engineer at Crompton Greaves in 1999. Now, returning as a seasoned leader, he is tasked with driving innovation and operational excellence within the company’s vital Railways division.
With a proven track record of building high-performing teams and delivering sustained growth, Dhananjay’s leadership will play a key role in strengthening CG’s Railways Business as we continue our journey of innovation and growth.
Bapat’s 27-year career spans shop-floor leadership at Bajaj Dhatu Udyog and Crompton Greaves to senior roles at Godrej, Saint Gobain, and Atlas Copco. He spent over a decade at Videojet in Director-level positions before serving as General Manager at Hach.
A mechanical engineer by trade, Bapat holds a B.E. from Priyadarshini College of Engineering. He further fortified his leadership credentials at the Welingkar Institute of Management, earning both a Diploma in Management Studies and an MBA with a specialization in Marketing Management and Strategy.
