June 2023 : For the second time in a row, Cummins India Limited (CIL) has been awarded with the Golden Peacock Occupational Health and Safety Award 2023 in the engineering sector. The distinguished recognition underscores CIL’s impetus toward preparedness and compliance with the comprehensive Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) management systems for all stakeholders. Guided by the core company value of ‘Caring’, CIL continues to champion the wellbeing and safety of its employees through robust OH&S policies and programs.

Amidst the gathering of prominent business and industry leaders, the prestigious award was conferred upon Cummins India on June 22, 2023, during an illustrious ceremony held in Bengaluru. Hon’ble Justice Ritu Raj Awasthi, Chairperson, Law Commission of India and former Chief Justice, Karnataka High Court presented the award to Rajendra Mane, Plant Manager and Director - Power Systems Business Unit, Cummins India; Rajat Kumar, HSE Leader, Cummins India; and Nitish Kulkarni, HSE Risk Support, Cummins India at the momentous occasion.

During the event, Rajendra Mane, Plant Manager – Director, Power Systems Business Unit, Cummins India delivered a compelling presentation on the OH&S best practices and the safety culture at Cummins India Limited (CIL).

Best in class health and safety practices, as well as innovative solutions, are achieved through a multilayered validation process across operations, overseen by dedicated regional and global compliance managers. Central to the company’s comprehensive HSE framework are several crucial processes and policies. The Hazards Identification and Risk Assessment (HIRA) Process, Management of Change policy, Contractor Safety Process, and Job Safety Assessment Process focus on people and plant associated hazards at planning stages. These provide a framework to assess significant hazards onsite to control operational risks, performance analysis and maintain a strong compliance program.
