November 2025 : Daimler India Commercial Vehicles Pvt Ltd. (DICV) has recently announced a major leadership change, naming Torsten Schmidt as its new Managing Director and CEO. Schmidt, currently the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Mercedes-Benz do Brasil, is slated to begin his new role in early 2026.

The appointment signals DICV’s commitment to leveraging global expertise for its next phase of growth in the dynamic Indian commercial vehicle market. Schmidt brings a robust 28-year career within Daimler Truck, marked by strategic roles across multiple continents.

Schmidt's extensive work experience highlights a career deeply rooted in financial leadership and strategic operations. His current role as CFO of Mercedes-Benz Caminhões e Ônibus in Brazil follows a significant five-year stint in Asia, where he served as Financial Director for Daimler Trucks Asia in Japan. Schmidt is familiar with the Indian landscape, having previously served as the Chief Financial Officer for Mercedes-Benz India Pvt. Ltd. in Pune.

Torsten Schmidt holds a Dipl.-Wirtsch.-Ing. in Business Administration and Industrial Engineering from the University of Kaiserslautern. He further augmented his executive acumen through specialized programs at prestigious institutions, including the IMD Business School and multiple modules at the ESMT European School of Management and Technology.
