June 2026 : When we look at the future of manufacturing, it is easy to get caught up in the abstract promise of artificial intelligence and automation. However, the true victory lies in how these advanced tools are applied on the factory floor to solve real-world industrial challenges. A shining example of this human-machine synergy is unfolding in Gujarat, where DCM Shriram Chemicals’ Jhagadia site has officially joined the World Economic Forum’s (WEF) prestigious Global Lighthouse Network, earning a coveted "Distinction in Productivity."

Standing as India’s largest single-site caustic soda producer, the Jhagadia facility faced intense margin pressures in a sector where energy costs dictate survival. Because power accounts for most operating costs, the team had to find a smarter way forward. They rose to the challenge by introducing "Project BLESSED," a sweeping transformation roadmap that deployed 45 advanced solutions, including AI-enabled process control and a GenAI-enabled maintenance manager. The human dedication behind this project delivered stunning results: an 11 percentage-point EBITDA improvement, a 32% drop in power costs, a 15% reduction in material costs, and a 14% slash in CO₂ emissions.

This accomplishment places DCM Shriram in an elite bracket of global manufacturing. It is one of 16 organizations globally to receive this recognition in 2026, bringing the total worldwide network to 238 industrial pioneers. It represents a massive win not just for the company’s bottom line, but for sustainable, tech-driven manufacturing in India.
