October 2025 : At the valedictory session of iTEC INDIA 2025 - Powering the Future of Mobility, jointly organized by SAEINDIA, IEEE and the Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI) in Pune, Pankaj Sonalkar, Managing Director of Kalyani Powertrain Ltd., highlighted the pivotal role of talent, creativity, and indigenous innovation in shaping India’s mobility future.
“This event is not only about learning, but also about building networks and meaningful connections that will help all of you in the years to come,” Sonalkar told the gathering of industry leaders, researchers, and students. He emphasized that India is witnessing significant activity in advanced technology, skill development, and talent creation, which will serve as the foundation for its mobility transformation.
Sonalkar echoed the sentiment of nurturing “creative confidence” among India’s young engineers and technologists. “We have achieved a lot as a nation, and this confidence will become a launchpad,” he said. Looking ahead, he predicted that by 2027, India will witness a surge in homegrown intellectual property, technologies, and scalable solutions emerging from the country’s innovation ecosystem.
Expressing strong optimism, Sonalkar described himself as “bullish on EV and India both,” particularly lauding the remarkable talent emerging from rural India that is making a mark in electronics and software. “I’m super amazed with the Indian talent, typically from rural India, which comes and dominates the electronics and software game,” he noted.
Sonalkar concluded by acknowledging the role of platforms like iTEC INDIA in nurturing talent, fostering collaboration, and accelerating innovation. His message reflected both confidence and urgency: India’s talent engine, if nurtured well, can power not just its EV transition but also its leadership in the global mobility landscape.
