JLR Appoints P.B. Balaji as New Chief Executive Officer

August 2025 : Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) recently announced the appointment of Mr. P.B. Balaji as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective November 2025. Mr. Balaji will succeed Mr. Adrian Mardell, who has expressed his desire to retire from JLR after three years as CEO and a distinguished 35-year career with the company.

Mr.Balaji currently serves as the Group Chief Financial Officer of the Tata Motors Group, a position he has held since November 2017. He brings 32 years of extensive experience in the Automotive and Consumer Goods industries, spanning finance and supply chain functions across global markets including Mumbai, London, Singapore, and Switzerland. An alumnus of IIT-Chennai and IIM-Kolkata, Mr. Balaji has been closely involved in the successful transformation of the Tata Motors Group.

Mr. N. Chandrasekaran, Chairman of Jaguar Land Rover PLC, Tata Motors, and Tata Sons, lauded Mr. Mardell's contributions and welcomed Mr. Balaji. "I would like to thank Adrian for the stellar turnaround of JLR and for delivering record results. I am delighted to appoint Balaji as the incoming CEO of the company," he stated. Mr. Chandrasekaran emphasized that Mr. Balaji's familiarity with JLR's strategy and leadership team will ensure continued acceleration of the "Reimagine JLR" journey.

Mr. Mardell reflected on his tenure, saying, "These three years have been a great privilege. Together with the incredible JLR workforce, we have cemented JLR’s position in the automotive industry during a time of incredible change."
