"Cognite has built something rare, a truly industrial grade AI platform that turns the complexity of operational data into a competitive advantage. This acquisition strengthens AVEVA, Schneider Electric’s wholly owned industrial software company, in the highest-growth segments of the market and positions Schneider Electric at the centre of the next phase of industrial intelligence." - Olivier Blum, CEO - Schneider Electric

July 2026 : Schneider Electric has recently announced a definitive agreement to acquire 100% of Cognite in an all-cash transaction valued at $3.1 billion.

This isn't just a standard corporate buyout; it is a deliberate step toward changing how heavy industries operate. Right now, industrial AI is moving past simply telling engineers what is happening in a plant to actually deciding and acting on that data in real time. By bringing Cognite into the fold, Schneider Electric secures the vital, cloud-native "data foundation" required to safely run these advanced AI models at a massive scale.

Once the deal clears regulatory hurdles, Cognite will be integrated directly with AVEVA, Schneider Electric’s wholly owned industrial software business, supercharging its existing CONNECT platform.

Olivier Blum, Schneider Electric CEO, highlighted the rare value Cognite brings to the table: "Cognite has built something rare, a truly industrial grade AI platform that turns the complexity of operational data into a competitive advantage. This acquisition strengthens AVEVA, Schneider Electric’s wholly owned industrial software company, in the highest-growth segments of the market and positions Schneider Electric at the centre of the next phase of industrial intelligence."

Founded in 2017, Cognite has been on an absolute tear, recently surpassing $170 million in annual revenue for 2025 behind explosive adoption of its Atlas AI platform. By merging Cognite’s sophisticated data modeling with Schneider Electric's sprawling energy management infrastructure, the company hopes to create systems that don't just connect, but genuinely think. As Blum puts it, "Together, we go beyond connecting systems. We give them the ability to think, adapt, and act. This is what industrial intelligence looks like at scale."
