September 2024 : Shailesh Chandra, Managing Director of Tata Passenger Vehicles Ltd and Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd, has been appointed as the new President of the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) for the 2024-25 term.

Before his elevation to President, Chandra served as Vice President of SIAM. He succeeds Vinod Aggarwal, Managing Director & CEO, Volvo Eicher Commercial Vehicles, who held the role since 2022.

Shenu Agarwal, MD & CEO, Ashok Leyland Ltd, will now step into Chandra's previous role as Vice President of SIAM, while Satyakam Arya, CEO & MD of Daimler India Commercial Vehicles, has been elected Treasurer for the 2024-25 term.

Chandra's appointment was formalized during the 64th SIAM Annual Convention on September 10, 2024, where senior government leaders, policymakers, and industry experts gathered to discuss the future of the auto industry as India embarks on its journey toward becoming a developed nation by 2047. The convention emphasized key themes such as Sustainable Mobility, Achieving Global Leadership, Technological Innovations, and Self-Reliance in the Automobile Supply Chain, leveraging India's potential in global markets.
