February 2026 : Stäubli, the Swiss-headquartered pioneer in mechatronic solutions, has officially inaugurated a major expansion of its manufacturing facility in Bangalore. Backed by a $10 million strategic investment, the move is set to transform the production of solar photovoltaic (PV) connectors, directly fueling India’s ambitious "Make in India" renewable energy goals.

The expanded facility is a technical marvel, housing advanced automated assembly lines built to Industry 4.0 standards. It is specifically designed to produce the MC4-Evo1 and MC4-Evo2 connectors - industry-benchmark components that ensure safe and efficient power transmission from solar modules to inverters. With a staggering capacity of up to 26 million connector sets annually, the plant is positioned to slash lead times and strengthen supply chain resilience for domestic developers and global markets alike.

“India is a key pillar in Stäubli’s global growth and manufacturing strategy,” said Gerald Vogt, Chief Executive Officer, Stäubli Group. “This investment strengthens our global supply capabilities and enables us to support customers worldwide with reliable, high-performance PV connector solutions produced to the highest quality and sustainability standards.”

Beyond sheer volume, the Bangalore site operates as a zero-discharge facility, integrating energy-efficient processes that align with global environmental benchmarks. The expansion isn't just about hardware; it includes a robust local vendor development initiative to enhance backward integration within the Indian ecosystem.

“This expansion underscores our long-term commitment to India’s renewable energy journey,” added Gurupad Bhat, Managing Director, Stäubli Tec Systems India. “By strengthening local manufacturing, engineering, and skill development, we are supporting the solar ecosystem with globally benchmarked solutions while contributing to job creation and industrial growth.”

Founded in 1892, Stäubli operates across four divisions: Electrical Connectors, Fluid Connectors, Robotics, and Textile. Since establishing its Indian arm in 2012, the company has become a critical partner for sectors ranging from automotive to aerospace. With production at the new facility having commenced in January 2026, Stäubli is now targeting a dominant 50% market share in India’s solar connector space over the next three years.
