July 2026 : Vega Industries, the global business subsidiary of AIA Engineering Group, has recently appointed Sumit Mitra as its new Chief Executive Officer. A seasoned business leader with over three decades of international experience, Mitra steps into the role to drive strategic expansion and market leadership for Vega Industries.

Mitra brings a wealth of cross-functional expertise spanning engineering, manufacturing, business transformation, and global supply chain management across India, Germany, and broader Asia. In his new post at Vega Industries, Mitra will focus on strengthening global market presence and delivering innovative Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) solutions to industrial clients worldwide.

Mitra began his career with Thyssenkrupp and Honeywell Automation, followed by stints at SRF Limited and Dalmia Bharat Group. His career trajectory features significant tenure at SKF Group. Additionally, he expanded international markets as Managing Director for NRB Bearings Europe GmbH and provided strategic business consulting in Germany. Most recently, he served as Managing Director for LAPP India.

His academic background includes a Bachelor’s degree in Electronics & Telecommunications Engineering from Maharashtra Institute of Technology (Pune University), following his schooling at Loyola High School and Fergusson College in Pune. He holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the prestigious Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta.
