July 2026 : In heavy industry, unexpected machine downtime isn't just a maintenance headache - it’s a multi-million-euro dent in enterprise profitability. Steering the shift from reactive repairs to predictive, AI-driven precision, Tata Steel India has redesignated Saurav Ghosh as Head of Condition Monitoring & Predictive Maintenance.

In this role, Ghosh leads asset reliability, digital transformation, and smart asset management across Tata Steel India’s four flagship mega-hubs: Jamshedpur, Kalinganagar, Meramandali, and Gamharia, alongside strategic alignment with Tata Steel Europe (UK and Netherlands). His core mission is to bridge heavy engineering operations with Industrial AI and IoT architectures, turning real-time shop-floor machinery data into board-level risk mitigation, optimized MTBF/MTTR metrics, and concrete EBITDA growth.

This leadership role builds on over 19 years of deep industrial expertise. A Mechanical Engineering graduate from Amravati University, Ghosh began his career in vibration consultancy at SPM Instrument India. He subsequently spent over six years at Schaeffler, specializing in rotating equipment and bearing analysis across steel, cement, and power sectors. Transitioning into industrial software, he served at Siemens Technology India, spearheading enterprise cloud and analytics applications for Industry 4.0. Joining Tata Steel in 2018, Ghosh spent seven years establishing and heading the Asset Monitoring and Diagnostic Center (AMDC) - governing over 3,000 high-criticality assets via the Integrated Maintenance Excellence Centre.
