September 2025 : Teradyne has recently announced the appointment of Dr. Jean-Pierre “JP” Hathout as the new President of the Teradyne Robotics Group. Hathout, who has been serving as the President of Universal Robots since May, will succeed Ujjwal Kumar and continue to lead Universal Robots in his new position.

Hathout brings more than two decades of international management experience to his new role, including 17 years at Bosch. He spent two years as President of Mobile Industrial Robotics (MiR) where he was credited with strengthening the company's product portfolio and global market position. A Mechanical Engineering postgraduate from Cairo University, he pursued Doctorate at MIT.

Greg Smith, President and CEO, Teradyne, expressed confidence in the new leadership. “We are thrilled for JP to step into this new role of leading the Robotics group,” said Smith. “The robotics industry is fast-changing, and I am confident in JP’s ability to navigate the challenges and lead Teradyne Robotics to achieve its growth goals in the years to come.”

Hathout commented on the opportunity to lead both the cobot and AMR businesses. “I’m excited to be able to step into this role where I can combine my experience of and passion for both cobot and AMR automation,” he said. “This is a further opportunity to leverage the significant technical and commercial synergies between the two brands at a time of rapid innovation and growing market potential.”
